When uploading a playlist to Ipod I get Upload File type not supported for MP3s

Hi

I have Media Center 9.180.

I have created my own 'Classic Hip Hop' playlist. Now when I right click on the playlist and send it to my IPOD all works well. The files are in the queue awaiting to be uploaded.

Now when I clicl 'upload' a few songs upload but then I get the 'Upload file type not supported'

What can this mean as all my files are MP3.

Thanks a lot.

Try synching the playlist the way I outlined here:

OK - I tried it again as per your link. I get a pop-up error message that just has a big red X with no error message.

Any ideas?

Is this a smartlist or a playlist? If it's a smartlist you made, just add the rule: file type="mp3".

Chances are you have songs in the playlist that aren't supported on the iPod (i.e. wma files or some other type). You can have MC9 auto-convert them on upload to MP3 if you want. Just click the Options button next to the Upload button.

Oh, and don't go back to MMJB, you don't have to. Everything you want to do will work fine in MC9, just takes a little user training. ;)

Ok, do this--go into: library>update library, and make sure delete files not on HD (or whatever it is) is checked, then try synching again.

****edit*** Just saw Adam's post. I would update your library first, then do what he mentioned, and then synch.

hehe, Chris, you double posted on me. ;)

Yeah, that's a good idea as well. That's what you do if you get an error message that it couldn't upload a file because it couldn't find it. I don't think that's the case here...I think you're trying to add a file that isn't supported. Do the force convert thing. It will take a while to upload that song (as it has to convert it), but you'll get it on there.

Ok, what I'd do is fry an egg, drink three beers (or wine if you're in California), try what Adam said first, then, when that doesn't work, try updating your library, and post back victoriously when THAT works...

Ok, just kidding--try Adam's thingy first, use the update if it doesn't work.

I thought he said all his files were mp3, but you're right, if some devious nonmp3 file snuck in there, it would cause a crisis of epic proportions..

Ok, this double posting is getting ridiculous...:D

Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!! I finally got one right! I'm loving it!!:D

'Course you realize Adam knows much more than I do about this stuff, and now he'll probably never help either one of us ever again...

Did you notice the part about where he'd send me a six pack and 30gig gen3 if my suggestion worked? Seems he quickly edited it out...Did ya see it? I for one certainly did...
