Number of Folders

Somewhere in ephpod's options it allows me to choose the number of folders to use on the Ipod. Mine is set to 19 (which I assume is the default) and, sure enough, there are 19 folders on my Ipod within which my music is scattered randomly.

Does anyone know whether it makes any difference how many folders there are or how many tracks are in a folder. Is it easier for the software to find tracks if there are many, relatively empty folders? If there are fewer, yet fuller folders? Not that I am having a problem or anything, but I just hate having control over somethiing without knowing what difference it makes. Apparently, I have too much time on my hands.

Yeah, you should've searched for this one.
More folders = less seek time for the iPod to find the next song.

It's actually the more folders the better. When your iPod is searching for a song, it takes it less time to search through 19 folders instead of 2. It's weird, I know. Somehow it takes longer to search for a song if they are all in one folder.

It can also cause skipping problems. Never should have been an option in ephpod IMO.

Set it to the iPod default: F00 thru F19.
