track order

When I record a CD into the MusicMatch program, it automatically puts the tracks into alphabetical order, and then when I upload them onto my iPod, I've got to rearrange them. Can someone tell me, in the simplest non-techno English, what I need to do in order for tracks to appear in MusicMatch in the order they appear on the CD?

Populate the Track Number tags. That'll do it in the iPod. As far as MMJB, I think you just click the Track Number column to sort on it.

What do you mean by "populate the track order?"

in your "my library," just click on the "track #" button and it will arrange them accordingly

To populate the track order on a song or songs, click a song, then click the Tag button. You can then enter the track number field.

I had this same problem - the only complaint about my new iPod. Even though I added the track numbers in the ID3 tags, the iPod seemed to ignore them and play the album tracks in alphabetical order. But some playing around led me to the answer:

The iPod only sees track numbers in the ID3v2 tags. I had been using the ID3v1 tags only. After copying everything into the ID3v2 tags, the iPod sorts corrrectly within an album. I guess the iPod does not support ID3v1.1, which added the track number. After converting my collection, everything is great.

tarheel-

Great find! I had the same problem and you've already found the fix.

Thanks, man.
