Convince Me . . . Please Read . . .
I am scum. I currently use MMJB with my Ipod. I have never had a problem, but I keep reading stellar reviews of Ephpod. I am seriously considering a switch, but I have a few HONEST questions that I would like anwered:
1) What is the "software of choice" for ripping mp3's? Is it still MMJB? I would like to know.
2) Is Ephpod REALLY that much quicker and user freindly than MMJB?
3) What do you think the future holds. Is iMusic going to be the bomb? How does Ephpod compare to the possiblities that Imusic could present?
I am not trying to slam Ephpod. I am seriously looking for honest responses from those of you with more experience than I currently have. Thank you for your time.

EAC/Lame

Yes. MMJB takes way too much control of things and tends to screw things up, it's a horrible ripper, and tagger as well.

Not unless it works for Windows.

imusic and ephpod do different things, if you mean itunes and ephpod then I would say it's hard to say. I think there will always be people who just want a program that syncs, but the developer of ephPOD is going to law school, so I'm not sure how much time he is going to put into ephPOD in the future.

ephPOD is great at what it does, maybe the best, but all it does is sync.

Well, actually it does a few more things than just sync, but I don't create playlists with it, and if I use mp3gain I will do it with the standalone version.

Not for me it isn't. I much prefer MC9 using LAME as the encoder

It is faster than MMJB, but it's a tool to sync with. I prefer an all-in-one solution for tagging/ripping/iPod uploading/playlists/music organizing etc. That's why I'm like MC9--it's not for everyone though.

Personally I think that ephpod will fall by the wayside when iTunes comes out. Mainly because iTunes will actually work (well, in theory) whereas MMJB really doesn't (with the iPod at least). Folks will have no reason to switch as they do today. Existing ephpod users will probably stick with it, but I don't see its share growing.
I think Xplay and MC9 will stick around but for diferent reasons: Xplay for its ease of use, integration w/WMP and for folks that want cross-platform capabilities on their iPods and MC9 because it is more fully featured than iTunes is.
But, don't take our word for it. Try 'em all. See what you like. They all have free trials available.
