Lyrics on new ipods!

I don't know how many Wimamp users there are in iPod-land but one of the plug-ins, Lyrix, allows you to search and store lyrics. It uses ID3 information to search several known lyrics databases. You can configure Lyrix to save the lyrics to a text file or ... better yet ... embed them within the ID3 tag itself.

I think the developer is from France. If anyone's interested in checking it out, his site is http://lyrix.best.cd and you can email him at lyrixplugin@online.fr

The cool thing is that when I play music in Winamp, I can see the lyrics at the same time automatically. You can even take the time to synchronize each line to specific time points. When you play the song, each line will highlight at just the right time (sort of like the bouncing white ball on Barney).

About a year ago, I went through the trouble of putting the Lyrics into each and every song in my collection. I was hoping that, by now, the buzz surrounding embedded lyrics would be greater but that doesn't seem to be the case.

The notes solution is limited to 1000 songs and is not automatic but, at least it's a start. I'm excited about the possibility of my iPod being able to display Lyrics as I play songs ... automatically.

I'm ready.
