Lost my artists !

Using 9.1.206 to synch with my ipod. I first did a format as I wanted to start over. Now my artist names have disappeared and all I can see are album names.
Where have they gone?
When the ipod is playing it does not show the artist name, just the album and track title.

It's a bug (BTW, it's still present on build 208). Should be fixed very soon, hopefully next build, which should be out monday. The rest of it is working fine...

And welcome to the lounge!!

Oh, I do not believe it's a bug folks. At least it's not for me. See they introduced this new functionality, Auto-Album Artists or some such thing. It's to allow you to deal with Various Artist albums. It makes my brain hurt figuring out what they're trying to do, but you can check the iPod Support threads over at JRiver for more on it.

Anyway to fix it (it did for me anyway), right-click the iPod in MC9. There's a new option at the bottom, something like "Set Artist Field". Select that then select "Artist".

It defaults to Auto-Album Arist or whatever...seems like they need to change the default.

Anyway, worked for me. Did a resync and my Artists were back. Try it out.

Thanks guys.

Thanks for the welcome, Chris, and thanks for the tip Adam - it worked !
Except now I have my artists back but lost my playlists. They are still there in MC9 but not on my pod.
Any other tips Adam?

When you synch your playlists, make sure to select "OK" at the bottom of the synch screen, rather than "select all"...

And once again you're right Adam--saw the post over at Jriver--I'll try it tonight. For the life of me, I don't know why they did that--they should of left the default as it was, and give you the opportunity to switch it if you wanted to, rather than what they did...

Actually Chris, we're both right? How's that for nifty? :)

Turns out even though Artist is not the default, it wasn't meant to be. Auto Album Artist was meant to be, and if that wasn't populated, then Artist was supposed to be automatically used.

Well, Steve found a...you guessed it, bug! That second bit wasn't working.

So, just like in soccer...Everybody Wins! :D :D

Thanks ashawley and dmt1! I've been going absolute nuts since upgrading to the latest build of 9.1.
