software questions
i should be receiving my iPod any day now. I've decided to use ephpod. Can I edit the ID3 tags in this program or do I need to use a program like tag&rename?
also I think that I will use EAC to rip cds onto my computer. I've always seen EAC connected with LAME. What exactly is lame and do I need it to rip songs from a cd onto my computer and then from my computer onto my iPod?

Ok, I learned that you can edit the tags in ephpod, but it is not reccomended.
how does tag & rename compare with MP3 Filename Formatter?

I've used EAC to extract audio, but I always used the command
line Lame (mp3 encoder) with the Razorlame front end. However,
I think EAC will allow you to extract and encode using the Lame
DLL all in one shot. It might even add the ID3 tags for you.
However, since you have your own source CDs, you might want
to consider going to AAC instead of mp3. After a few days of
listening tests I've decided to abandon mp3 because (to my ears
anyway) AAC sounds better at 128K than mp3 at 192K.
