Batch convert mp3 -> aac under windows?
Does anyone have a good way to batch convert existing MP3s to AACs under windows? I'd like to make sure it uses a high-quality AAC codec and keeps ID3 info.
Thanks!

Nero Burning Rom with MP4 plugin can batch convert mp3 to aac, then you can rename the mp4 files to m4a and upload them to your iPod with EphPod 2.70a. You will have to fix the tags with EphPod, though, which is a real drag.

You can also use Sveta (www.dbpoweramp.com) and i think it can extract the ID3 tags and tag the mp4s with them, not sure about this though. However transcoding causes a loss of quality, and you should try it out on a few songs before transcoding your whole collection

There is no reason to transcode a MP3 file to AAC. The AAC file will sound worse then the org. MP3 file. You need to rerip all of your files. BTW, if you want a good lossy codec to transcode from check out MPC. I am reripping my CD's as we speak to MPC and will then transcode them to MP3 when I load them on my iPod.

is this not very similar to what you advise against in the first part of your post?

MPC Transcodes very well to mp3. It just that MP3 doesn't transcode very well to other formats. Sorry for the misleading info without explaining.
