Windows Software

I have a Mac formatted iPod, with a Mac software installation disk. How can I format this iPod for Windows? I do not have an original Windows software disk for the iPod. Is there any other way? If not, does anybody know where I can download the software?

Thank you!

Thanks, but I am a little confused. You're saying that with this file I do not need the original software cd? Just install this onto my computer, plug in my ipod, and go to town?

That link will get you to the Apple Updater/Restore program for windows which will enable you to convert your MiPod to a WiPod. Just follow the instructions and you'll be set.

After that is done, you'll have a WiPod. You then need a program to upload tunes to the ipod. You could use MusicMatch, but I wouldn't recommend it. Many 'loungers don't use it.

Check out the other programs, there are trials available for them or they are free (ephpod). There are boards here in the Windows section for each one of them. They are:

MC9 (Media Center 9)
Xplay
Ephpod

I jsut went throught this and blew up several ipods, I found the best way to convert is to plug ing the mac ipod into your windows box. Open My computer and format the drive to FAT32 (don't pick the wrong one). After that your ipod may have a folder icon with an ! in it because it can't read the file system. Don't disconect it unslee you have to. Then do the bios/OS update. You should be good to go.
