Software question and problem?
Hello- I recently upgraded my ipods to 1.2.6 and realized that it was in fact the european version which i think lowered the volume output on my 10gb and my 5gb. I would upgrade to 1.3 but I hear they are not playing AIF format to well and I want to make sure there is no battery issues with this software.
Does anyone know where I can find Sofware update 1.2.6 which is the proper version?
I do not want to use Itunes 3 as of yet... at least not until I buy a new powerbook and don't have a choice. Should I upgrade to 1.3? and will this work with an old version of itunes?
I bought this 5gb for cheap that was supposedly broken - symptom: dead battery.
I upgraded the software to 1.2.6 and now the battery is working fine and I am getting 8 to 10 hours. Will 1.3 mess up the battery again? Any hunches on that?

You can get the American updater for 1.3 here. (http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/ipodsoftwareupdate13.html) I don't think Apple still has the 1.2.6 version available, but maybe you can find it by searching their site.
1.3 should add further battery stability and allow you to use AAC files if you're running OS X and iTunes 4. If you don't use either of those, 1.2.6 should be fine. I'm not sure where to tell you to get the updater for 1.2.6 in a U.S. version, though.

The problem that is bugging me with 1.2.6 is the volume difference- I have to have the volume all the way up and can barely hear a thing on the subway.
