up-converting mp3 files

Hi,
I recently ripped my CD collection using MMJB at 128 kps. There is a convert option where you can convert mp3 up to higher sampling rates. Can you really convert to a higher sampling rate (like 160) when the song was originally sampled at 128?

It is feasible to do this, but the resulting MP3s will sound REALLY bad!

That's exagerating, it won't sound REALLY bad. But it's pointless, because it really won't gain any quality.

Thanks for the reply...it seemed illogical, but I was thrown off by the fact that MMJB will actually let you do it! Weird.
