What software should I use?
I have ordered a 10 GB ipod which should be arriving within the next couple of days. I downloaded Ephpod already since I have heard it's a much better aplication than Music Match. However, I've been reading the Ephpod board and hearing about problems transfering files. I keep hearing about a program called Media Center 9 which everyone seems to love, but it costs $40, which seems a bit ridiculous to pay just to be able to transfer files. What do you guys think I should do? Also, what should I use to tag my MP3s and where can I get it.
Thanks.

If you don't want to pay the bucks, EAC/LAME with ephpod is the best way to go, IMHO.
However, the my overall favorite is MC9 hands down. You're getting much more than the ability to synch for that $40.00. You can rip, encode, created these incredibly cool things called smartlists, and manage your music in ways that no other program allows, besides being the fastes synching application I know of. You can trial if for free for a month then decide. That's what I'd recommend; if you don't want/need the capabilities MC9 gives you, then go with EAC/LAME and ephpod.

Thanks, Chris. I'm using EAC/LAME right now, but I'll consider the free trial. Are there any limitations? Also, what other programs are available for tagging my MP3s that I don't have to pay for?

There are no limitations on MC9--you get it's full functionality for one month, and if you don't pay, the license expires--it's worth giving is a shot if you're really into music management and want to be able to do some really cool things with your music (it is somewhat addictive). It does have a little bit of a learning curve, so you do have to invest a little time into it to learn how it works. But it's well worth it IMHO...But if you're looking to simply rip, encode, and transfer, EAC/LAME/ephpod is a fantastic way to go...
