Ephpod & Firmware Update Information
Just to let some of the people who might have this problem know, for me ephpod stopped working after I installed the new updater software on my computer. It was rectified after I uninstalled the updater software.
What I suggest is you download the software, install it, and then run the update. After that, uninstall the update software and ephpod should run perfectly.

I updated the software on my 30Gb'er...I am still using Ephpod version 2.58 and so far I am happy to say no problems...I don't think 2.58 supports Audible, so I am conisdering updating to the latest/stable version that handles AUdible...anyone care to share which version that would be.

yeah, thats what I did.
Just download the update, update your pod, and then uninstall ipod manager, or whatever it is that is installed, and the other installed thing that comes with the download. I have encountered no problems.

Here was my experience with the latest 'updater' file:
I'm using Ephpod 2.70a. I never installed the Apple software previously, but only ran the updater.exe file off of the original Apple CD.
I downloaded Apple's 2.0.1 update, and when I saw that it was one, big 'setup.exe' file, I knew I might be getting myself into trouble! So I ran the file, and sure enough, it started loading a bunch of stuff on my computer that I didn't really want.
The next thing I know, I've got the little Ipod manager icon on the task bar, and when I fire up ephpod, it no longer sees the ipod. The Apple software also gave me some kind of error message saying that the Ipod wasn't properly formatted, which I just ignored. Rather than uninstall the Apple software, here's what I discovered that fixed it all:
Look for the little checkbox on the Ipod manager software that says something like 'Enable disk mode'. Once I did that, I clicked on 'My Computer' and saw that the Ipod now has a drive letter. I believe that Ephpod won't be happy unless the Ipod is assigned a drive letter by your computer.
If you've got a drive letter, Ephpod should work, even after your update, and even if you leave the Apple software (I don't mean MusicMatch) on your computer. Just look for the little checkbox and check it. It worked for me!!

Strange. Mine didn't. I had to uninstall the installer again to make it work. My computer didn't recognize the drive at all again until I did that.
