MusicMatch help...

Hi im new and i hate MM!
It's cack, it manages to stuff up everything! I d/l ephpod but i found it confusing and the software that comes with it (the mac thingy) asks me which drive do i want to format, i don't want to format my computer! whats it on about? So as ephpod doesn't come with instructions i'll stick with MM but im having issues...
It doesn't always dectect the track names of my albums so i figured i'd use WMP to put the cd onto my hard drive then rename the tracks myself but i did this and i couldn't put the songs onto ipod because they are not in mp3 format, so i've got 20% of my music collection that won't work with MM and if i put them onto ipod i'd just have loads of songs called track 1, 2, 3, 4 ect...
Also what does Syncing mean and do?

 Dude - search these forums - they are full of info! Also give the manual a read!
There is a Sticky post about using Ephpod.
As for "syncing" - come on now!

When you rip CD's just connect to the internet - the tracks will come up automatically!

Are you still having problems?

Make sure you have the latest version of all software and have another patient go at it - this exercise is definitely easier than assembling an Ikea cupboard. If others have managed to do it before you, then you can as well.

Not all the time it doesn't, for example Dave Matthews Band: Under The Table And Dreaming can't be detected neither can The Avalanches.
I've already figured out quite a bit about my iPod and i've read the instructions a few times. I guess i was just kinda looking for a step by step guide to naming tracks because it's doing my head in now!

Also i wasn't sure weather to get the latest software for everything as i heard for example that MM 8.0 doesn't have a ipod plugin so i think i might be screwed if i update my software.
Still trying to understand what syncing does...

I was on MM8 before i got the ipod - changed to 7.5 once i got it!
Have you tried to search when ripping - I've had it a few times when there are a number of options - and i'm sure when i did one of my DJ mates own mixes it asked me what I wanted to call it and name all the tracks before it ripped.
When i get home i'll try another and see what happens!
As for syncing - that is the process of "syncing" your ipod to your music library! ie after you have synched you will have two copies of your library - one on the PC and one on the ipod. You can then tinker on the PC - add track, albums... thenre-sync to up date the ipod.

However on another note - i am going to try Media Center9 tonite - will let you know how that is!
