Whats the problem?
Are there any tweaks that I can do before I go out and by my 3rd brand of card?

When I pick a group of songs to transfer to IPod, they start going very well but they always hang and nothing happens then I get a message about write failure or something like that, is this a common problem or does this signify a Firewire Card that is not working well with my setup..Please give me your opinion...

It signifies a card that doesn't work well with the iPod. Any time you get write errors or CRC errors., that's you're problem.I'd suggest getting a different card. There are a number of recommendations in the 'lounge.
