Thank Heavens for EphPod and these forums!

I was thinking that since I wanted to use the copy of MMJB that comes with the iPod for some line-in recording, I'd try using it instead of EphPod at the beginning.

Over 2 hours later, I was ready to chuck my computer out of the window! I don't know what the deal was, but I never managed to install the iPod plug-in for MMJB. Finally, I did a system restore, and followed Adam's instructions to cancel out of the iPod CD as soon as you hit the MMJB install, and installed EphPod.

As soon as it started up, I was impressed - it's a good looking program. And despite one inital hiccup (I had been messing around so long, and playing with the backlight and games, that the battery died in the middle of my first transfer attempt!), my first transfer went great.

One question:
Everything looks great, but under artists, R.E.M. are listed 3 times. Is this because of the periods in the name? Should I tag them as REM instead? This is by far the artist with the most songs in my collection, so I don't want there to be 3 copies of them if I can avoid it. Does anyone else have R.E.M. tunes on their iPod? Thx!

i have R.E.M. listed as R.E.M. . check if there aren?t any spaces before or after the name. maybe use a tagging prog like drtag or id3taggit and rename all the R.E.M. songs, by selecting all of them and retyping "R.E.M.".

Thanks for the reply! So now I know that I should be able to label them as R.E.M. I've heard of double-entries, but mine are triples, and they're all exactly the same. I actually used ID3 as my tag editor already, but I'll mess around with it some more this weekend and see what I can come up with.

Just thought I'd update and say that mrm's suggestion worked. I've been using ID3 Tag-It, so I just changed the artist tags to "none", and then back to "R.E.M." using the multiple tag option, and now there's only one listing on my iPod database.

Thanks again for the help, mrm.
