Synchronization Questions

Say I always want all the songs in "MY MUSIC" folder to synch with my iPOD. I'm using the "smartlists -- ALL MUSIC" sync choice which works pretty well.

[1] If I add a couple of songs, is there a way to sync just the new songs...not resync the entire folder?

[2] I'm getting frequent error code 23 on different files each time I sync. If I immediately resync the same folder, different files will show up with the error code 23. I've tried rebuilding my iPOD database, which doesn't solve the problem.

Thoughts?

Yes, you can highlight the songs by right clicking on them, then choosing "CD,DVD,Handhelds" to queue them up, then Right click in the left hand tree on your ipod drive, and choose download...

But it only takes a sec to synch if you're only adding two songs--MC9 will (VERY quickly) skip over the songs that are already on your ipod, and add the new ones--by the time you queue up the songs individually, it would be IMHO just as fast or faster to synch...

Thanks for your reply...I think I'm slowly getting the hang of this.

So when I sync "all music" MC skips those songs it already has loaded? It's hard to tell based on the "progress bar" thing...

Thanks again.

PS Anyone know what error code 32 is?

Hmm...Error code 23...Think it has something to do with reproductive prophylaxis, but I'm not sure. Actually, I have no idea about the error code. But you can use the link at the top to post over at Jriver...

And you are absolutely correct--MC9 skips the songs already loaded--you'll see them go by at lightning speed on the synch screen, and every time MC9 comes to a new song not yet downloaded, there will be a (very) brief pause when it downloads that song...

Hi all,

I am trying to do exactly what is being listed above (I want to sync again and upload only the new stuff). However, it's not working as described. I get an error message telling me that there's not enough room on the iPod. There is about 8 or 9 gig left on the iPod, and I'm only trying to upload (at most) 1 gig.

What am I not getting here?

Thanks

Ok, you're probably going to be best off starting from scratch (there maybe some other ways around your problem, but here is the easiest):

First try reformatting your ipod for MC9 and synching. Yes, you're going to lose everything on there, but all your future synchs should be just fine.

If this doesn't work, I'd do a full restore (either with 1.2.6 or 2.0.1 depending on which generation ipod you own), format for MC9, and you should be good..

Hey

Thanks for the reply. I tried that and I hit another problem. After restore, I tried to format in MC, and the ipod disappeared form the tree view in about 10 seconds. same with windows explorer. if i unplug and replug, it will come back, but disappear in 10 seconds again...

Any ideas on this one? Thanks

I fixed it, but I'm not sure how....

I think it has to do with selecting MC9 as the Default Application after the Restore from the iPod manager. I've posted in the MC9 boards, we'll see what happens...

Thanks
