Using New v2.0 Firmware on Old iPods?

I think I've seen this posted before with no replies.
1. Has anyone successfully installed the New v2.0 Firmware on the old (Gen 1 & 2 ) iPods?
2. If so, what worked...what didn't work?

I don't believe anyone has. I think the hardware differences would make the firmware not work.

1.3 is available (that the newest firmware for mac only at this point). Maybe that's what you're referring to...

1.3 has been made available for WinPods, too, not-so-legally.

Adam is right. 2.0 could not be installed on gen 1&2 because the hardware is different. Someone looked at the 1.3 firmware and at the 2.0 with a hex editor, and found out that they were very different, thus gen 1&2 can't have 2.0 and gen 3 can't have 1.3 or earlier.

Too bad for us owners of gen 1 or 2 iPods, but hopefully Apple will release a 2.x for older iPods...
