MMJ to rip Eph to sync
I know several people have said that MMJB and Ephpod do not get along on the same computer.
I just had MMJB take about an hour to do 575 songs as that is all I have so far. Is that normal.
So can I use MMJB to rip and then use Ephpod to sync. Ephopd does not rip as I have read. I do not have to sync with MMJB first as that is what I did with a smaller number of songs. I thought my screen was going to melt.
Anyway I can use MMJB to rip and then just sync with Ephopd and it is aware that there are new songs in my library? IF so, how does it know that?
Thanks

I guess either nobody knows or nobody cares.
I sent a message to MM and they responded with the fact that 8.0 does not have an ipod plugin and that is why it is struggling so I downgraded and it was better and synced in about 5 minutes for 600 songs.
Is it still acceptable to have the MM rip and the Ephpod install them or add them to the ipod?

Any program can put mp3 files into the directories you have tagged for "sync". Eph scans the directories to see if there is anything that isn't on the ipod. If there is; it uploads it.
I think most of us use EAC and LAME for the ripping as it's as good as an encoder gets.
hope this helps

Yes you can use MMJ and Ephpod on the same computer. That is what I do. I have MMJ to manage my music library, which is in a folder that I added to the "watchfolders" options of MMJ, and I added this same folder to Ephpod's synch folders menu. So when I add a song to this folder(or any subfolder), it is added to MMJ, and then when I plug in my iPod and synch with Ephpod it gets added to my iPod.
1 hour for 575 songs? way too slow, try Ephpod you'll be amazed...

I also use ephPod to sync and MMJ to rip, tag, and manage and the combo works very well. Ephod just syncs your ipod and your music folder and subfolders, it then reads what is on your ipod only. If you add more songs to your music folder you just sync again. EphPod only adds the songs that are not already on the ipod so updating syncs are very fast. Every once in a while I do a bunch of retagging and just wipe the ipod clean and sync again. Either way it is much faster than using MMJ to sync. :)

Well after getting some CDs from BMG yesterday and putting them in to have MMJB rip them and having that awful program sit there and not be able to even start the process it is in the trash bin. I downloaded CDex and without even really reading the directions I ripped it and synced with Ephpod. Seamlessly and effortlessly. I then later figured out how to just add the songs that I had just ripped rather than the whole catalog or whatever. I do not think that I will ever go back to MMJB.
I uninstalled it and still have the ipod plugin, which would not uninstall (I did it in the wrong order didn't I). Do I need that for Ephpod and if not is it okay to just stay there until I am bored enough to install MMJB long enough to delete the plug in?
Everything works so I am afraid to touch it.
Thanks.

Please dont tell me your using MMJ to rip your cd's. The quality of the program built in to MMJ is terrible. Use lame with exact audio copy bro.

No - I am done with Music Mash.
I like the simplicity of CDex, and the speed, and EphPod's too.
Music Mash keeps sending me tech responses from requests that I sent them - I respond by telling them that their product is no longer installed on my PC.

I just got my ipod, and followed the sticky-thread directions as to how to load my ipod without using/installing musicmatch at all, which worked like a charm.
However, I have a problem with CDex's speed, and the other prog I Was using, Easy CD_DA exractor, was awesome but the trial ran out.
I just installed musicmatch by exploring through the apple cd, and didn't install the apple ipod plugin...so far, it is ripping CDs fast and efficiently, I am really enjoying it...when I try to load my ipod of a couple new cds, I guess we'll see what happens, but it looks like it'll be just great.
