Media Center 9 problem
I had some problems with Ephpod and Musicmatch (see my threads on the Ephpod and Musicmatch forums) on my 30 GB iPod, so I'm giving Media Center 9 a try. Unfortunately, I'm getting a problems here as well.
Following Adam's instructions (posted on this forum) about restoring and formatting the iPod, removing programs and all his other steps, I got the first synch to work fine. Then I synched the iPod again with some smartlists and some new songs I added to the library, and again the iPod worked fine.
The third time I tried a synch, however, Music Center couldn't hook up with the iPod. An F: shows up under devices, but when I click on it, an error message comes up saying that there's no plug in for a "PO" (?). When I right click, Music Center breaks down and I have to end the program. On other attempts, I get an error message that it can't read F: and the only mesage is a funny symbol like "}" in the error message box.
I restored, reformatted and synched from scratch "all music" and a couple smartlists I put together. I got some error messages for some songs (which play fine when I play them on the computer). Now there's a blank line " >" on the playlists menu of my iPod (which I have seen before with Ephpod, usu followed by message of corrupt itunesDB on Ephpod) and while all track names and artist names appear on the iPod, none of them play - the iPod just cycles through song after song as if it finds no music and moves on to the next track.
Am I doing something wrong here?

Right click the iPod and select "Rebuild iPod Database". Somehow it's gotten corrupted.
Also, make sure you have the latest version of MC9. You can always find it here (http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=MediaCenter). It's the first thread on that board. They are up to version .180 right now.
After you install you might need to do the restore deal once again--not sure how old the version is you have.
If you keep experiencing this problem, post back. Steve at JRiver will get you settled.

Thanks. I didn't mention that with right click, the "rebuild database" option isn't there - it's like it recognizes the F: drive but not as an iPod device.
Looking around the media center discussion forums, I noticed that they recommend 9.0.178 and up, but the download page features 9.0.175. Huh?
There's also a note there that the iPod plug-in on media center's website doesn't work for pre-9.0.177 versions, although the download page on media center's website suggests that it works for all 9.0 versions.
I will double check what versions I'm using, perhaps reinstall with a more current version, and see where that goes and report back.
Hope that works, but please post if anyone else has encountered my problem before.

Oh, also, are you clicking the iPod in the right place? Make sure you're right-clicking the iPod as it appears under CDs, DVDs and Handhelds, not under My Computer.
If you just download version .180 from the link I supplied you'll be fine. Just install it over the current version.
.175 is the latest "stable" release of MC9. They will update it periodically, but you can always get the latest version from where I posted in their forums.
