newbie: want to use ipod to store data/files as well as mp3s

I've held off purchasing an ipod because i really need somewhere to store my documents/non music files on a very regular, if not daily, basis. Is it possible to store word and excel files and still be able to store and listen to mp3's on an ipod?

Is it easy or hard to do this? I would think it'd be faily simple.

Easy to do.
Only tough decision for you now is what size HD to get.
