new ipod and OS9

Does anyone know if the new iPod, the one with the four buttons under the screen, works with OS 9, specifically 9.2? When plugged it, it just says "do not disconnect." I had it showing up in iTunes (version 2.0.4, the highest that can run in OS 9?), but now it doesn't show up anymore.

i had it working fine in 0S 9 on my Pismo PB before I upgraded it to 10.2.6. What are the specs of the Mac you are using it with?

I have just recieved a 30GB ipod as a gift, and i'm having the same problems with compatability with MacOS9.2. - on a G4 powermac

I've "downgraded" to itunes 2 - which seems to be running fine, and it even recognises the ipod and displays the icon in the source list... there is definitely some sort of interaction with the mac & ipod, but I can't squirt any audio at all onto ipod... I also get the "Do Not Disconnect" warning.

If I restart my mac, the ipod changes to it's normal menus for a while - then the charging light comes on - but it never actually seems to fully charge... it just keeps going.

I've tried downloading the ipod updater 1.3, however when the time comes to select "restore" or "update" - neither are highlighted and can't be activated.

I can't believe that apple have made almost everything incompatible after OSX, it really doesn't show an awful lot of respect to existing customers - and so far their online support has offered nothing but a few FAQ's.

I'm hoping that someone - anyone - can help me turn on my new toy. this is SO frustrating.
