Firewire plug gets STUCK!

I have a Ti Powerbook and my firewire plug gets stuck in my computer - has anyone else had this problem?
The first time I used it, it took me 40 mins to get it out. In the end I had to use a small ruler as a lever to get the plug out. I don't like doing this because I worry about breaking the port and/or the plug! Any suggestions?

Dude. Apple must have it in for you - they send you all the broken stuff. I know that it takes some tugging to get firewire plugs out of my iMac, but I've never had to use a lever to get them out.

Yeah - I think they do have it in for me. They just replaced my powerbook because they sold me a faulty one, and now this.

What's a girl to do? *shrugs* Despite all these problems, I'm still an apple freak.

Have you ever had firewire plug problems before? Or had you never used Firwire before getting your iPod?

I remember reading in the old forums that some people had problems "pulling the plug" on the FW cables when Apple redesigned them for the Gen2 iPods. Apple made the plug "sleeker" which made it harder to get a grip on.

Someone posted that they went to Home Depot and got some tiny self-adhesive clear rubber "bumps". I have used these to put on the bottom of knick-knacks to protect furniture. They are half-spheres made of clear rubber, with self-adhesive backs. Apparently they come in a small enough size that the person who posted the suggestion was able to stick one on each side of the FW plug. This gave them something to grip onto, making it easier to pull the plug out.

I hope this helps. And, don't worry, trinket - John doesn't call all the ladies "Dude"! :D

Thanks for your help! :D
I have tried other firewire cables in the port on the powerbook to see if it was the powerbook creating the problem - but it was fine.

Tom - thanks! I think that is half the problem - the plug is difficult to grip properly. I'll see if I can find those little rubber bump things you mentioned. I think they would make a huge difference ;)
