30GB refuses to respond to any buttons after hold

My week old iPod has developed an odd behavior where, if I use the hold button on the device, it will stop responding to all input even if I turn off the hold button. If I use the hold button on the wired remote all is well. The only way to get it to respond appears to be to reboot it which loses my Audible bookmarks.

Any ideas?

That's a new one on me - I have no ideas except to guess that the Hold button on your iPod is defective. Have you called Apple Support (http://www.apple.com/contact/phone_contacts.html) for possible warranty repair / replacement?

FWIW, I set the hold button on my new 30 GB iPod every single time I put it away after listening and I have not had this problem. I purchased my 30 GB the night they hit the streets, so I have had it a little over a month.

Good luck!
