too much music :( iTunes>iPod

i've finally reached the point where iTunes > iPod.. :( i have just over 11gb of music and can only squeeze.. what.. 9.3? onto the iPod.. so my question is this.. when some of you found yourselves in this same position.. what did you do? ;) short of buying a new iPod of course.. i thought about doing the "only update checked soungs" and unchecking what i don't want on the iPod.. and then of course there are selected playlists only options.. but what did the rest of you do? input would be appreciated!

I did the "update only checked songs" and unchecked things to keep them off the iPod. Playlists-only would have defeated the whole point of having the pod with me -- having my whole library! (or most of it, anyway.)

A big time-saver: When you're viewing a particular list, command-clicking the checkbox will check/uncheck everything in that list. Saves a bunch of time, but make sure you don't accidentally do it to the whole list. Whoops. :-)

I'm doing the "Selected Playlists" bit, but I'm using Smart Pl;aylists, so they get updated when I rip new music. A Suggestion I read elsewhere that you might like to try is to make a Smart Playlist: limit it to 9GB, Last Played is not in the last 3 days (or Play Count is less than 5), Live updating. This'll give you a constantly updated random selection of what's in your library.

Just a suggestion.
