Ripping to iPod - not registered to this mac

I'm another soul who has two Macs and one iPod. Home + Office. I want to be able to transfer music seamlessly between the two and keep music on the iPod from both places.

I've figured out how to transfer music from my iPod to another Mac using some of the shareware available. I've even figured out how to use "TinkerTool" and access the music directly on my iPod.

What I can't figure out, is how to copy songs FROM iTunes on one Mac (the one the iPod ISN'T registered to) TO the iPod.

When I do so, using the Finder (TinkerTool enhanced), the songs copy, but I can't see them on the iPod.

What am I missing?

This isn't exactly an answer, but how did you transfer music from your iPod to a different Mac? I've tried the shareware PodMaster, but it just gets stuck 'probbing the iPod.'

There are a variety of other ipod-indexing applications - check versiontracker.com or other comments here for things like "ipod-it" - I think that's what I used... and just managed to copy off the music and then copied them individually to the iTunes program. Then, I just resynched the ipod.

...it's pretty strategic that Apple doesn't let multiple iTunes programs connect with a single iPod.. that would make it really easy to copy files between macs... but I'm hopeful someone will develop the hack or the application that will enable those lawful users who just want to move music between home and the office.

...especially since you can use a purchased song on 3 Macs... that's all I want - just not all in the same home.
