smart playlist to filter "adult" content
I'm considering setting up all of my smart playlists twice, once for all music, and the other for "clean" music, 'cause there are some times that f*** is not appropriate.
Since there's no PMRC tag, I'm considering setting the BPM tag to 1 and filtering on that. I can't imagine actually using the BPM tag for its originall purpose.
Has anyone else tried this sort of thing, and what did you choose as a filter?
Also, even if I choose to use the song star ratings in the future, I can't imagine that I'd be keeping anything rated 1 star even on my iMac. So, rating something on the iPod to one star will be a good method to "flag for edits" for when I resync.
(All of this is very theoretical; I haven't chosen my iPod yet. 30, 15, I still can't decide.)

No, I'm already using the Genre tag for other things, and not all of the things I would be flagging as "adult" would land in the same genre. Heck, I've got lounge music with bad words.

Do you use "Composer?" If not, you could use it instead.
Can you create custom fields with iTunes? If you can, just create a custom field and filter by that... all the filtering is done on your mac anyhow. Once on the iPod, a playlist is a playlist, so even if the iPod doesn't see your custom field, it'll still be all good.

The BPM tag is integers; you can't set it to text.
But why not set the "Comments" tag to "Adult"?
This AppleScript ( http://www.malcolmadams.com/itunes/gateway/appendtocomments.shtml) might help.

dude- use comments.
I tag any songs with adult content as 'swear' in the comments field.
( I Have a kid and I use the Ipod in the car with iTrip)
I then use a smart playlist and use "comment IS NOT swear" for the car playlist.
I basically blanket comment all the 2000 hip hop tracks I have, so my kid doesnt listen to hip hop.

Maybe I can help you. They don't make either of those models anymore :)
The 20 Gig is the same price as the 15 now. But they dont make the 15 Gig anymore.
