Reformatting Powerbook; what do I do with my iPod?
The hard drive in my Powerbook is corrupted. I've tried to repair with Diskwarrior and the Disk Utility, but nothing is working. It won't even boot from the HD, so I need to reformat.
Anyhoo, I've got a 15 GB iPod with a ton of CDs ripped onto it. When I connect my iPod with the AACs on it to my newly-reformatted Powerbook, will I be able to transfer the songs from the iPod onto iTunes, or will it "update" my iPod and delete everything?
I still have all the original CDs so I can just rip them all again, but I was really hoping that I wouldn't have to do that. Are there any steps I need to take to ensure that iTunes will just transfer the songs from my iPod?
Thanks!

After you reformat, hold down Command-Option when you plug the iPod back in, and hold it till it mounts and shows up in iTunes. This will disable auto-sync for one time. Then you can adjust your settings to manual update. After that, you can use a third-party utility (like PodMaster) to transfer songs back to your hard drive.
