iTunes frame rates

I'd like to find out what the relationship between frame rates in the iTunes visualizer. So, here's the question. What is your frame rate and what's your Mac model and processor speed? Use the visualizer with no cap on frame rates and full screen.

My framerate hovers around 20. I have an iBook/500. I think in iTunes 3+, it also depends on your GPU, seeing how there is an option for OpenGL use in the visualizer...

I should have posted my reference. I get between 32 and 40. This is on an upgraded 400 mhz to 1 Ghz machine. When it was in it's original out of the box configuration I would get between 13 and 20. I'd like to see what the frame rates are like on dual a 1.42 Ghz with lots of fast memory.

Where does one set frame rate? How does one get the information you're asking for?

Open iTunes. Choose Visualizer. Select small medium or large and turn off full screen. Then turn the visualizer on. Now click on the options widget on the upper right of the iTunes window. Select "Display Frame Rate" and "Use Open GL" Leave the other options unchecked. Then press the Command and F key. The frame rate will appear in the upper left of the screen. You can get more info while the visuals are running by pressing the "?" key.(if you press it again you'll get a user config option)

Cool. I'll try it out when I get back home to iTunes 4.

Average was between 60-75fps. Occasionally a background process would drop it to around 45 for a couple seconds.

Cyber, Do you remember what the frame rates were like pre-panther? Does iTunes (visualizer) take advantage of SMP?

IIRC the frame rates in Jaguar were about the same.

Here's ( http://www.jasonharbourdesign.com/~steve/Pics/images/iTunes1.jpg) a screenshot from my Panther box.

and does it take advantage of SMP? hey I have not been able to use iChat AV because i don't know anyone with enough HP and also a Mac user. What's the pic like?

Not sure about SMP.
I haven't been able to use the AV in iChat AV because I have neither a cam nor a mic. Well, my old(er) iMac has a mic, but I rarely use my iMac anymore.

I have a FireWire ibot and I have used it with Yahoo but that's pretty poor and does not have voice chat, let alone duplexed voice chat.

When I'm in "large" mode I get in the high 20's to low 30's. When I go to full screen mode I get from the 50's to the low 60's. This is on a dual 1GHz Quicksilver machine.

I tried out a dual 1.25 ghz at a local store and it too got 60 to 70 fps. I guess the dual processors make a considerable difference. I wasn't able to check on processor load though.
