iTunes Folder Playlists
Are there any 3rd party programs that are better that iTunes for the mac?

I am getting a powerbook and i ordered a 10gig ipod gen3 and i have all my files in folders by artist. what i want to do is create a playlist for each of those folders so essentially i would i a playlist for each artist. I have seen it done in Xplay and it was fairly simple but I was wondering how you would go about this in iTunes. I cant let iTunes just sort them by artist because they are not all named consistantly and the Tags are not all dont correctly. Will I have to put each file from each folder in its own playlist or is there a way to link them directly to my folders.

Well, you could just import all of your songs into iTunes, and Command-select all the songs by the same artist, or of the same album, and then do a Get Info on the songs. You can then set all of these songs to the same Artist or Album name, so you'll by-pass trying to organize your songs by artists using Playlists.ZoidbergD at 2007-11-15 16:47:51 >

Yeah, what Eustacescrubb said Zoidberg said. It can be a daunting task to edit those tags, so check out the stuff at Doug's Applescripts (http://www.malcolmadams.com/itunes/) for help.
