iTunes Folder Playlists
I am getting a powerbook and i ordered a 10gig ipod gen3 and i have all my files in folders by artist. what i want to do is create a playlist for each of those folders so essentially i would i a playlist for each artist. I have seen it done in Xplay and it was fairly simple but I was wondering how you would go about this in iTunes. I cant let iTunes just sort them by artist because they are not all named consistantly and the Tags are not all dont correctly. Will I have to put each file from each folder in its own playlist or is there a way to link them directly to my folders.
Are there any 3rd party programs that are better that iTunes for the mac?
Thanks

Well, you could just import all of your songs into iTunes, and Command-select all the songs by the same artist, or of the same album, and then do a Get Info on the songs. You can then set all of these songs to the same Artist or Album name, so you'll by-pass trying to organize your songs by artists using Playlists.

Yeah, what Zoidberg said. Your iPod organizses this way as well; it'd be worth your time to get your tracks properly tagged.

Yeah, what Eustacescrubb said Zoidberg said. It can be a daunting task to edit those tags, so check out the stuff at Doug's Applescripts (http://www.malcolmadams.com/itunes/) for help. I use 5 or 6 of these constantly, and have edited a couple together and set the variables to the defaults I always use.
