sub-sorting indiv artists albums by date?

Is there any way to set up iTunes /iPod to list all the albums by an artist by order of release (typically year of release)?

I've got all my artists filed Last Name, First Name - but when I browser by artist, the individual albums come up alphabetically. What I'd prefer is to have the albums for each artist/group listed by order of release.

Is there any way to do this w/o having to manually name each album with something like "1-Shake Your Money Maker", "5-Lions"?

That would be cool. Suggest it to Apple through the Feedback part of their website.

Yes - in iTunes -

Turn Browse mode on (Command-b)
Scroll to the artist in question, and select "all" in the albums panel
Set your view options to show the Year tag, and select this tag.

I don't know about the iPod, though.

Thanks eustacescrubb - that doesn't do it on the global view, but I didn't know about "command-b" so the answer was great for giving me something new to play with!

I think I'll go with thenightfly42's recommendation and write to Apple.

What iTunes (and iPod) need is a way to sort of multiple columns, like you can do in Excel. So first sort is Alpha by author, then 2nd sort if by year, then third is alpha by album name. (in the case of multiple releases in the same year). Or whatever you want - as long as they give you (or more) multi-sort options.
