Smart Playlists keep updating
I've used the smart playlist to create lists that I want to keep updated... so, I checked the "live update" check box. Now I've used one list to find a specific set of songs. Then I went in and deleted a few songs, etc... But I went back later and the list had reverted back to the original search criteria... even with live update unchecked. I can understand if I edited the list's search criteria and clicked OK, but I did not.
Are Smart Playlist ALWAYS going to update themselves? Is there a way to change a smart list to a regular one? Do I have to copy the results to a blank ordinary playlist to edit them? What is the "Live Update" then? Any thoughts?

You can't delete songs from a Smart Playlist. If you want to edit the playlist results, you will indeed have to copy them to a new regular playlist. But this is easy: just batch-select every song in the Smart Playlist, then go to "File:Make New Playlist from Selection".

Thanks eustacescrubb, for confirming what I was thinking. So, I copy the smart list to a regular playlist and then need to delete the smart one. Seems like there should be a "Convert Smart Playlist to Regular Playlist" command in v5 of iTunes.
So, what's so special about the Live update option?

That option is to allow iTunes to check against new data - like play counts, ratings, etc., that might change while iTunes is operating.
