renaming files .mp3 & .m4a

Hello,

I've been using versions of this great script for a long time: "rename files" I'm now using version 1.2.1.

It still does what it's supposed to do, but with the addition of .m4a files, things get complicated. If we rename an .m4a file with an .mp3 extension, iTunes doens't play it anymore.

What I did at first was to modify a copy of the script to work with .m4a files. It worked great.

But now each time I want to rename files, I must make sure that I don't mix mp3 and m4a files, which is beginning to be really tiresome!

Wouldn't there be a way to have a version of rename files that would have the same features as the current version, but would leave the file's extension untouched?

Thanks,

Nisaea

I am currently working on a solution for this and will hopefully be releasing a new version soon.

If someone else wants to look into making the changes, please do so and post the patch. Please do not release the entire code with this one addition as you own, or under a new version number.
