How many people does it take to build an eXo case?
That is the list of people that work on getting eXo to you. Manufacturing of eXo has been none stop from the day it got released.

I thought you would find this interesting. To produce eXo it takes a 3D mold designer and myself to make the design - then the mold company with 3 people working on our mold ? from there to manufacturing with 2 people mixing the silicone, 2 people working on the silicone heat press, 2 people checking, 8 people cleaning the excess silicone from the cases, 4 people working on attaching the screws and packaging, 1 person on getting the orders from the computer and preparing them for the days shipping, 4 girls on shipping and our computer work is done by one designer and 1 computer programmer now building to 2.
That is the list of people that work on getting eXo to you. Manufacturing of eXo has been none stop from the day it got released.

It take a lot, to give you an example: whenever we make a mold one of our guys has to travel back and forth to check and test. This trip takes 5 hours one way and then about 8 hours in a factory were the temperature is about 95% and then he comes back or spend the night in a hotel (if you can call it a hotel). This is one of our managers. Where we are it is more comfortable because we have airconditioning but in China most places do not and it gets hot.

....and that is when everything runs smoothly, when we have problems and have to make changes things get wild here. eXo was an impossible task according to the company making them, they wanted to drop the project because it was taking too much time to make one case and they had an 80% waste factor. The company that helps us make eXo is a Mao company and they can get into serious trouble if they lose money. I convinced them that they would learn how to make the case in time and I paid for all their loses while this was happening. Their estimate was 1200 cases a day but when they started they made 200 + cases and 80% were bad so their production was 40 cases, that is why people like iSkin.com had their problems. No one knew that this would happen and I was not about to change the design to make it easier to produce so that it could get into people hands to satisfy the orders that came in. There are 4 cases per mold and it takes 10 minutes for the silicone to cure with heat and pressure. The moment they remove it another mold goes in and then they spend about 10 minutes to remove the cases from the mold.Lajo at 2007-11-15 15:48:23 >

Now we are at about 10 to 20% wasteXskn is a much more difficult mold than eXo so it will be interesting to see what the results are, we have tested the mold and it is fine but needed a few adjustments and we could start to produce this weekend but we all want to rest so we may leave it. Hard to say

Oh well thats much less waste. This might sound stupid cuz u proably allready said but i forgot. Is the xskn gonna just be for the G2 ipods now. Or also for G3's. I'd love to test drive one if its for the G3's.

I decide to release Xskn for 2gen and 3gen together. We are starting to manufacutre 2gen and the mold for 3gen will be completed soon and we will make those and then start the promotion.Lajo at 2007-11-15 15:52:27 >

Yay... I've been waiting for that deal to purchase my next eXo. Perhaps I should wait a few days extra and see the Xskn. (So odd to type without any vowels ;) ).
...which brings up an important question. Will the 50% off 'compensation deal' only work for eXo, or also for Xskn?!
