Apple Case vs. Others
I'm going to buy a 10gb 3g ipod. I know a lot of you guys have the 15gb or over model, which includes the apple carrying case. I've seen it and held it, and it seems to be extremely sturdy. But it costs $40. It is worth it to get this? Also, since the case is open at one end, does the ipod slide out sometimes? If the apple one isn't that special, what case should I get? I've looked at the xtrememac one, but the belt clip post kind of turns me away from it. I owned two cell phone cases with such an attachment, and it only gets in the way during pock storage. Also, iShades users, do the iShades provide screen protection or does the plastic still get stratched through it? Sorry for all the questions, just need some advice.

I just bought my first iPod (15GB refurb) and although the Apple case IS very sturdy...I wouldn't buy it for $40. The biggest gripe I have with it is the fact that it doesn't allow you access to any of the controls without having to actually take the iPod OUT of the case. I guess if you have the remote control and plan to always use it, that is not a problem. I have the remote and have yet to use it. Plus, with the 10GB model, you have to spend more money for the remote as well.
I purchased an iSkin and it should arrive tomorrow! :D

If you like the Apple case, you can get one on ebay for much cheaper than direct from apple. Looks like they go for $15-30. That's where the one that came with my iPod is now. Hopefully it gets me enough to buy a case that better suits my needs.

I have a 30GB iPod, and used the Apple case for a few months until the iskin Exo arrived. I would NEVER go back. I hated having to take the ipod out every time I wanted to change a playlist. Don't get me wrong - the Apple case is a well made, sturdy case - it's jusst not for me. And yes, the shades will definitely protect your screen.

I used my Apple case for about 2 month and then I got an eXo.
Became tired of pulling out of the case all the time, and I wanted a slimmer case for sliding the pod in my pocket.
And not to mention the small scratches the Apple case leaves on the back metall case.
I never use it anymore, would recommend getting something else.

I still use my Apple case every day because I like to clip it to my belt on the way to work. If I stick it in my pocket it weighs my suit jacket down too much. It isn't perfect but suits me as I am happy to just slip it out of the case to change tracks.
I bought an exo and like the design but the belt clip and the way the silicon sags slightly when clipped make it inpractical as a case to clip to your belt. I do use it when travelling though without the belt clip attachement and if I am just carrying it around in my pocket then i use the free clear case that came with the exo because its easier to get in your pocket than the rubbery exo itself.

snav, do you find the exo easy enough to get in and out of your pocket? and is it comfortable when it's in there?

Hi bennok
Yep.. I really like my eXo's. When the skin is brand new You can find it a bit grippy if you are use to the Apple one. But this grippyness makes the Pod stay in place if I use it in my jacketpocket.
I unscrewed the clipscrew and it slides easy in and out of my pocket. And for my purposes it's all I need, i've even managed to drop the Pod a couple of times, and it took no damage/scratches.
With the screenprotector on i use it anywhere, in my jeanspocket and bag.
By the I've got 3 of them so You can understand that i like them.
The MacClear Zip I use for cables when i'm traveling.
The deliverytime was 4 working days with UPS from China to Sweden, ordered it from Lajo's site. (total delivery cost 5$ i think)
