iSkins.com - DONT ORDER THRU THEM

(I KNOW THIS IS A LONG POST BUT IT'S WORTH READING...)

iSkins.com really do take the biscuit.

On 7th July I ordered 2 iSkins for a 30gb iPod in Fusion and Skylite and an Electra one for a 15gb iPod. The latter as a gift for my fiancee. My fiancee and I then switched iPod's as I preffered the lighter smaller 15gb for commuting by bike so I emailed iSkins and asked them to amend the order so that I would have the Fusion and Skylite for the 15gb and the Electra for the 30gb. They emailed back saying "no problem" and that the order had been changed accordingly.

Time passed and I waited for my iSkins. Eventually in late August I got a message saying that my order was ready for dispatch and there was a link to follow to check the order - the order details showed that my order comprised of 3x 30gb iSkins!! I emailed frantically to correct the mistake but had no response so I crossed my fingers, waited and posted a rant on here.

Then I get notification of the DHL tracking for my order as it's been dispatched...again the details of the order reveal that it's for 3 x 30gb iSkins. I email iSkins.com again with hints of threats (I am a lawyer so good at threats!) and darkness. This time they responded. I got a call from a lovely person called Stephanie she apologised profusely and said that they'd send out fresh batch of iSkins free of charge with no obligation on me to return the original lot ("yipee, ebay bonanza" I think). That was last Friday.

Then I get a call from Stephanie to say that they are all out of Fusion iSkins in 15gb size so would I like an alternative colour, I decide on Martian and that's fine.

I am now (24th September) in receipt of both packages from iSkin.com via DHL (one package was held up in the internal mail here for a day or so) and I have the following:

1x 15gb Fusion
1x 15gb Skylite
1x 15gb Martian
1x 30gb Electra
1x 30gb Skylite
4 x Mac Clear zip cases (one of which came round the Fusion in the first package, one of which came on it's own in the second package and the other two came round the Skylite and Martian iSkins in the second order!!!).

Ok I know I'm lucky as I effectivley have 2x free iSkins but I am still stunned at the incompetence of www.iSkin.com and their utter inability to fill an order correctly and why did 2 of the iSkins with the first package not come with Mac Clear cases?

I had planned on buying an iSkin keyboard cover for my iMac if I was impressed with the quality of the iSkin exo. I am v impressed with the Exo's but I won't be ordering my keyboard cover thru' iSkin.com.

Lajo, get a better distributor!

Everyone knows you don?t mess with lawyers, they are the squeaking door that gets oiled 1st. All kidding aside you have had your share of problems and it seems that iSkin.com has had their share too.

To set the record straight they are not distributors of mine, iSkin.com runs a parallel business to mine and have their own distribution network. I make product for them and we both share the name iSkin. The designs are mine the name iSkin is their property. This coming month I will introduce my new designs under my own label Xskn.

does that mean lajo that your brand of xskn exos will be different then what we have all payed for right now? or are you just gonna replace iSkin with xSkn on the back logo on the case?

Well then, Lajo... You need to ditch the name iSkin, and go solo. Just call it the eXo.

They're hurting your rep. Imagine all the people who have nothing to do with these forums... What would they think?

glad to hear you're doing your best to dissasociate yourself from that lot Lajo, your product really is good it fits my iPod so well and just does all I need and it's pretty too. THANK YOU! I love good design.

I'd like an xskn I could add a lanyard to tho' to wear it round my neck...at the mo. I have the lanyard from my old Marware case tied to the iSkin belt clip which works but I'm worried it's going to stretch out the case. I find wearing the iPod round my neck on a lanyard is ideal for cycle commuting.

The cases I make will be driven by my desire to put out the best. The name iSkin or Xskn or eXo is only a name.
We all make mistakes and from what I have seen the people at iSkin.com had one of the best reputations before eXo and they will bounce back.

Wow that is really intersting, I always wondered what the arangment was with iskin.com. So how did you end up in China, did the people from iSkin commission you to manufacturer cases there? I am asking because I figure you hooked up with the iskin.com people when you were living in Canada. Just curious.

I came to China on another project then my friend in Canada (iskin.com) introduced me to the need for iPod cases. I looked at a number of cases and seen a design in Hong Kong that I liked, then a retailer in Hong Kong asked me to build a silicone case for them, I introduced some of my improvements on the design, they refused some of these so I built my own design then improved it some more and after understanding the properties of silicone and mold making and experimenting I came up with eXo which is my 1st major input into the design of an unique iPod case. The knowledge that I have now and the desire to improve will lead to new and better designs.
