First open the zipper all the way, then insert your iPod and match the top holes to the control opening, then fit the bottom of the zip case onto your iPod, The zipper has a protective liner, make sure that is full extended so that it cover the edges of your iPod, fit the top of the zip case and then zip up.

When I try this, the ipod never gets inserted far enough to eliminate the bulge on top. The result is that I cannot get to the hold button easily and my earphone plug has to be pushed in with force to push down the bulge. I have given up.

This is the same problem I've been describing with the openings at the top: unless the one for the Hold slide is made larger, it simply cannot be accessed without a prosthetic fingernail; and any excess bulk around the headphone jack will push against any plug that's inserted and cause the connection to loosen. (Which is really annoying for us active users, having to stop and twist or tighten the top.) I certainly hope the new thinner, more pliable material will help solve this.

I love the Maclear case. I use it everyday and never take my ipod out since I put it in the case. Actually the reason why I never take it out is, I don't want to "put it in" again. It's so hard to fit the ipod in the case, I spend almost half an hour to do this. Even now I'm not too happy with the fitting. The hold button is very hard to access, and it's so hard to plug my cable into the firewire hole (I'm using the 2G 10gb), same case for the headphone/ remote.
I think if the zipper is longer on both side which can almost reach the case top, I can easily fit the ipod in and place it properly "in" the corner. Not like what I have now, really get loose in the corner.
Don't get me wrong, I still love this case very much. I can show off my beautiful ipod and access it easily.
And Lajo, I like to see a new 2G iskin with the screen protector and also a touchwheel protector, which means a 100% protection like the Maclear. Thank you for your great design.

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed with the MacClear case. I waited so long to get it too. It is practically impossible to get the fit right at the top. I struggled so much that my fingers actually began to hurt from zipping and unzipping the zipper. It got so hard at times to zip up the case that the teeth on the zipper split as I was zipping. What a let down. Thank goodness I only spent $14 (with shipping).
I'm still using it now while I determine what case to buy next. I have a limited budget so I'm reading the forums to see what cases get the best feedback so that I don't have to buy a 3rd different case.
I'm leaning toward the eXo iSkin.
