Has anyone done this with an iSkin?

This is going to be considered case mutilation, I'm sure, but...!

...has anyone ever considered cutting the iSkin at the bottom and making a flap for docking like the Speck product? It seems that the iSkin is a perfect product except for that.

Also, does anyone use their iSkin with the Belkin battery pack? Does it fit into the grooves of the battery pack, or would cutting notches in the iSkin work better?

 TIA

Look at the speck product. You will need to be carefull to terminate the cut you make for the flap's such a way that the split will not continue to propagate unchecked with usage...

This technique is used in worworking where a split in a piece of wood is frequently terminated with a drilled hole. This process spreads the force exterted at the end of the split over a larger area...and usually stops the split in its tracks!

I suggest you terminate the cut with a semi-circle (like on the speck product). You can possibly do this with a pencil-point soldering iron to MELT the rubber material to product the desired termination.

I cut the little loop thing off. iSkin cuts like butter. I'm sure it would be easy enough.

Have you tried it yet?

The little loop, I am working on some earing designs for the eXo case and other decorative accessories to hang from the loop such as a silicone finger strap. I have heard a lot of people have removed it and I think it is not a problem to cut it off.

If your gonna cut it, I don't see how it would stay back on...like it would slip off. If you look on the speck, you will see that the back has a crease where the silicone folds back.../

I personally feel there is no way to avoid a crease it is just a matter of time. If I were to do it I would manufacture it with a designed crease rather than let the crease take it own path that way the crease would be built into the design and people would accept it. I am only shot off my mouth on theory, no facts, maybe this material they are using will not crease I don't know, I have never seen the case live. noticiable
