Lajo

Lajo? 40GB iPod, just announced...

Lajo,

I?m still waiting for my computer to be shipped and I had a 30GB iPod on order? So I ordered my iSkin exo in advance thinking that Apple wouldn?t upgrade the iPod till around the Christmas season (since it was introduced earlier this year).

Anyway.

The new 20GB and 40GB iPods are now "super-slim" (0.62 inches thick). So I?m really screwed with having a 30GB exo that wont fit.

Will the 3 Gen 10/15 exo fit this new size (assuming that the hight and button placement hasn?t changed)?

Oh, forgot to mention. Apple canceled my 30GB iPod that was on order with my system and upgraded it (at no cost) to the new (I guess immediately available according to one site) 40GB iPod.

If I recall the dimensions of the 15gb and 30gb,

20GB = 10/15GB size (0.62" thick)
40GB = 30GB size (0.73" thick)

Hm...

Finally got Apple.com to load on my connection (verry slow this morning for some reason).

I don?t know the dimensions of the now deceased 30GB iPod. But it does look like I'm stuck. I guess I will have to wait even longer now for a made-to-fit eXo for the 40GB if the 30 GB ones wont work.

Source: http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html

Size:

10GB: 4.1 by 2.4 by 0.62 inches

20GB: 4.1 by 2.4 by 0.62 inches

40GB: 4.1 by 2.4 by 0.73 inches

Weight:

10GB: 5.6 ounces

20GB: 5.6 ounces

30GB: 6.2 ounces

Don?t get me wrong people, I?m hyped about the 40GB. I just spent so much time and money (calling long distance) dealing with iSkin.com (which I wont do again)? Guess this is good news for people who want to get a 30GB at a discounted price!

azdude_15GB & Infamouschitlin,

Didn't see your replies... Yeah if the 30GB eXo won?t fit, then Lajo will have to start on a new one. And production has been going good producing some exciting colors and the upcoming colored Shades screen protectors.

I will stop over at my local CompUSA and get one of those Tech Spec flyers for the 30GB on my way home from college this afternoon. Will be interesting to see if the price has dropped also since they were just announced.

azdude_15GB, XiXora,

Yeah I?m starting to think that same thing; two of the news sites that I read about the release, have since edited out the part about the 20 and 40 both being slimmer.

At apple.com the jam jackets are now listed in 10/15/20 gb size and 30/40 gb size...no changes in physical size for the new ipods.

Let me know if the size is the same as the 30 or is it a new size. I already had some requests but I am not sure what the size is yet.

The sizes are the same...10 / 20 are still the slimmer models whilst the 40 is the same size as the older 30. The only reason the 40's (and old 30's) are larger is because their HD uses 2 20Gig platters, as a single 40gig does not exist at this time.
