Message To Lajo: iSkins
Dear Lajo,
I have had my iSkin for about two weeks now, and was very pleased with it (very very nice product). But.....yesterday, when I went to put the iSkin on after a washing of the iPod, not the iSkin, and when I did put it on, the silicone ripped in two places, both right around the scroll wheel. It was not usable anymore becase it was very loose. So I threw it away. All I am asking is why did this rip, and can I get a new one at a discounted price. Thanks.

I can't speak for Lajo but you shouldn't have thrown it away, usually you need to send them the damgaed product to get a replacement.

silicone does not rip, even if there is a strand of silicone the size of a hair the silicone will stretch. We have problems seperating the small amounts of silicone attached to the main case after manufacturing. The only way is to use something sharp. You can rip a case made of poor quality rubberized material. Please post a picture to lajo@lajo.biz

I will TRY to dig it up from my work garbage tommorow. But, if I can't find it, I guess its my fault that I threw it away. :( But anyways, there was no sharp instruments or anything sharp of the sorts that touched the silicone. Just me, my iPod, and the water and soiap touched it. Also, do you think it could've dryed (not to sound stupid) the silicone out from the soap I used? Just a thought. Ill hopefully post pics tommorow. Thanks In Advance.

You can heat up your frying pan and put eXo in and nothing will happen so drying out is not possible. Silicone is used on the shuttle heatshields. This is a first and that is why I am so interested in seeing it. I have had people write to me about a soft case they bought and thinking it was one of mine but it ended out coming from another company. I know that in Hong Kong I have seen a rubberized case in a very cheap PVC zipper case (I look at this as a compliment that someone would think of my idea of giving a TPU zip case free such a good marketing idea) but for sure it is not mine and not labeled as that. I touched the rubberized case and it had this rough stiff flexible feeling, one that comes from some of the materials I have rejected for eXo.
Where did you buy it from? Was it for the 3rd gen iPod or the 2nd gen iPod?

Mine has the same problem. There is a small rip in the upper left hand corner where the hole for the iPod screen is. I did use a knife on the iSkin eXo when I first got it, to cut off the carrying strap piece on the side - but I didn't come close to where the rip is. I have taken the iPod in and out of the eXo case about 4 or 5 times. I didn't think this thing would last forever, but its only been 2 weeks.....

These cases are THAT heat proof? WOW. I think I'm sold! I've been intrested in getting an iPod (still haven't) and since I found this site, I've been spending HOURS reading about them and the accessories.
I visited a local retailer yesterday (Microcenter) and found the Jam Jacket, but it looked a little cheap to me. I was also concidering a Vaja I-VOLUTION leather case, but at $85+18 shipping I don't know if I can afford it after buying the iPod (still looking at eBay for a deal I can work with)
(off topic- Yesterday was the first time I held an iPod, it was a 3G 15GB model, I couldn't believe how thin that sucker was! very impressive. And easy to figure out within seconds of getting hold of it. I can't wait to get one!)
If the iSkin is that durable and flexable I think I'm sold at $30.

bob622, send me a picture of the case where you have the problem my email address is lajo@lajo.biz. This case should last for a few years, I have some around now for about that time and I am constantly testing them and they keep on bouncing right back.

No luck on looking in the trash :(:(:( I asked the janitors, but they said they didn't see it. All is well though. I guess it's my fault that I threw away (DUH :( ) I would like to see the small "tear" too to compare it to mine and better inform Lajo of what mine looked like. Anyways, I have no case now for my iPod. And my Maclear 2 case also broke, and looks like its molded a little wierd. BOTH of the zippers broke, and one of the corners look too bulgy. I can take pics of that though if anyone is interested. Thanks and bye!

Sorry, I don't really have anything to get a good picture of it. The rip is pretty small.
