Just got mine yesterday. Hope your problem is not too common ;-)
BTW... if your clip broke, that applies to your warranty, not to the satisfaction guarantee. Simply ask them for a new clip-- I hear they're real nice about it.

how does that not apply to the satisfaction guarentee, i wouldnt be satisfied if my clip broke and my ipod tumbled to the ground. Get your money back
# 3 Re: PodPaq Clip
Ok austin... I see how you read my post. Let me clarify.
You can certainly get your money back under the 30-day satisfaction guarantee.
However, you can replace your broken clip for free under the lifetime workmanship and repair warranty. No need for 30-day restriction.
If you want money back, go for it. If you like the case and would like to try a new clip, there's no cost to it. That's all I meant. Sorry for the confusion.

ahh, yeah... But if i was boister and if i used the belt clip... i would deff look elsewhere.
Sorry though, azdude
# 5 Re: PodPaq Clip
just to let you know, booq is really nice about taking care of their customers. i was just informed that a new belt clip has been sent (lifetime warranty on parts). however, i just want to take note if this failure is common with the podpaq. if it is, i would prefer to return my case for a refund. the lifetime warranty is nice but if my ipod keeps falling due to belt clip failure, it's not worth it.
# 6 Re: PodPaq Clip
I've had the PodPaq for exactly a week. Was very happy with the protection of the case and liked the magnetic flip face of the case... a lot. I was less excited about the way the cutouts fit around the buttons, but was satisfied overall. Had heard rumor that there was an issue of the clip snapping apart, but generally was very happy and everything seemed solid enough.
Well, I had my Ipod on my belt at my side sitting in the passenger side of a car. As I stood up, the PodPaq hooked on the seatbelt (had an automatic shoulder belt) and the clip sprang apart into about 3 or 4 smaller pieces including a tiny little spring that seems to hold something together.
Since I intend to use this as my main case and am fairly active, I don't want to worry about brushing up against something else and having the same thing happen. I ended up returning the case and just received the Vaja I-vod case... yes, almost double the price, but I've realized that I wasn't going to be happy without a very, very secure case.
Too bad about the PodPaq, though... a lot of things were great about the case, but it's all spoiled by the quality of the belt connector.

I received my PodPaq014 exactly two weeks ago yesterday. The next day I brushed up against something and the clip busted. I had to put it back together (damn that little spring!). It happened a couple of other times that weekend as well. The following Monday I stumbled across Booq's Contact page and submitted what had happened. Within two hours I received an email from a Booq rep stating that a new clip would be sent to me that day (August 4). The email also stated that they have had other reports of broken clips. I was really impressed with their customer support...
Well, here it is August 15 and I still have not received my replacement clip. I was able to "fix" my defective clip, I think. It doesn't come apart as easily as it did before, although I've been much more careful with it lately.
Guess it's time to send an email demanding a new clip or a refund...
It's a shame, because other than the clip I really like this case.
-sigh-

BOOQ,
Thanks for your presence here. I love it when CSRs frequent customer message boards. In addition, thanks for your thorough, permanent solution to the issue-- few companies bother addressing such customer concerns anymore.
Anyway,
I *just* received a new PodPaq014 (it shipped from you guys on monday the 11th). How can I tell if I have the new design?
Hoping mine doesn't break,
Jerrod Hofferth

According to the email I received from them, they will start shipping the new clip with orders that go out on Monday, 8/18/2003.
Therefore, I would assume you have the "old" clip.

Hmm. Thanks. I wonder if they'll replace the clips preventatively. or if I need to wait till my iPod falls 4 feet ;-) BOOQ??

# 12 Re: PodPaq Clip
well today i received my replacement belt clip from booq. sadly, it's noticeable larger in size, but maybe it's a good thing. also, in my opinion, the metal mechanism which holds the clip together looks the same as the previous clip. hopefully their claim of a better clip holds true.
here are some pics of the new and old clip. the left is new and the right is old.

the bottom
# 14 Re: PodPaq Clip
the metal mechanism of the old clip which is sadly similar to the mechanism of the new clip. i wonder if the replacement is a generic clip because the old one has their logo. maybe i'll shop around for a generic clip that has a better design.
# 15 Re: PodPaq Clip
My current problem with the clip (as it hasnt broken yet) is that the retractable nub (inside the channel) doesn't protrude far enough to make a grip with the nub. So, if the podpaq is sideways, it will come out regardless of whether or not the button is pushed.
I will also shop around-- I know the clip on my maclear works, so it must be some sort of standard size!
Time to storm the cell phone accessory kiosks in the mall! ;-)
Thanks for the pics btw...
