Metal back

The silver/mirror back plate on the ipod,what kinda metal is it?
Mine has alot! of scratches,wondering what i can do about this...
If it's metal,maybe sand blast it..
If it aluminium,anodize it..

Its a new type of alloy which apple invented, it auto scratches if you look at it wrong.

But I have heard of people sandblasting it, and it looks like brushed metal.

iPod Cleaner ( http://www.ipodcleaner.com/) if you just want to restore the chrome to a shiny scratchless reflective state. As for changing the back I heard of somone used an SOS pad to create a brushed metal look. However I wouldn't do that to my pod, I love it too much.
