Get the Flipstand or wait for iSee?
Hey guys, do you think I should spring for the new clear Flipstand or wait and see whether the iSee will be better. Originally, I wanted to wait for the iSee, but just because I wanted a clear hard case. So, either one of these would be good. Does anyone think that the iSee would have a better build quality or better design?

I have the original flipstand case for my 20gb and I am very pleased with it. Based on what I've heard about the isee case, being made of the same type of material that cd cases are made of, I would believe that the flipstand would be of better quality. In fact I am hoping that they make one for the classic ipods as well. I want a clear case, but the isee does not meet my own personal standards.

whoever started the rumor that the iSee was made of cd case plastic is a complete idiot. I had both an iSee and an Flipstand. I loved the iSEe adn it was very protective and the best case i ever had for my iPod. THe FLipstand was crap, it was bulky and impossible to open the top without breaking fingernails. I like the looks of the new Flipstand, but I dont want my new 10GB ipod to be that thick, so i got the SP Skin, which i am told, only makes it 1 or 2mm thicker. Go with the SP skin.

IS the skin a hard case as well?
# 4 Re: Get the Flipstand or wait for iSee?
I just checked the site and this seems to be a really good idea. I can stil get clear case, but for cheaper and smaller! It looks like I may buy the skin, but I'd like to wait for some pics and reviews first. I would still like to know if it's a hard case. It says it's made out of plastic, but the name skin and the picture of the fold up bottom seem to imply that it's stretchy or flexible.
Thanks for the advice, carlin!

the skin is like a silicone material, so no it is not a hard case. Its really your choice, i am really anal about keeping it pretty close to its original size. Let me know what you do, kinda interested to see what the new hard case looks like...good luck!

There are so many cases using the word skin in their product name. I can't seem to find a site or the manufacture for the "sp skin" Carlin mentions. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks...pixelman

By the way, do you think the clear SP skin will be completely clear or just translucent and cloudy(like the iSkin)? I can't quite visualize a clear rubberized case.

Does the iPod Skin by Speck Products offer any protection for the iPod screen? The product description does not specify the screen itself, just states that it protects your iPod from scratches. Seems to me from the illustrations on their site that the product does not include anything to protect the screen itself of the iPod. Is this correct?

From their web site, under iPod Skin features, it states:
"Available in 3 Vibrant Colors: Cobalt Blue, Frosted Clear, and Translucent Charcoal."
So the 'clear' one would be 'frosted.'

ah! thank you for pointing that out.
# 12 Re: Get the Flipstand or wait for iSee?
The speck cases (rubber) do not offer a screen guard afaik, but the flip stand does. I purchased both for my 20gig ipod, the 3 pack, as well as the flip stand.
Each for a different time, the flipstand for when im gonna get rough and tough, the rubber ones for when i just am gonna leave it in my pocket or something.

Thanks KeaneE04, That is what I thought. I wish the Speck case (rubber) also included something to protect the screen itself. That is probably the last place I want a scratch... leaving it open sort defeats the purpose of me getting a case for my iPod.

I cannot believe that they would leave the screen open like that without protection! I care a lot about scratches on the screen than on the white surface.

I agree completely. Odd that they would leave open the one area that I would want to protect most. As I said in my other post, it defeats the purpose of getting a case in my opinion.
