Looks very nice, cant wait till they release one. I know a few people with the PDA cases and Vaja products are top notch. The prices are not for the faint hearted.

Hmm... I was hoping they'd make a flip-top version. That one looks cool, but I need something that will allow me to keep my iPod in my purse, and an open face won't cut it.

Hideous.

The new one isn't as appealing to me as the old one, but then again, they chose the sickest colors as the preview.

Right now I'm waiting for xtrememac.com to release their new cases. Hopefully they are as good as the old ones.

It's not the colours that bother me, its the ugly way the case is molded around the outside two buttons. Other cases are designed like this too, and they have been met with similar disdain.

Just as an update, I got an email today (6-17-03) saying this:

"The case will be released by the end of this week." - Vaja Cases Rep. :D

That would be nice. Maybe this Vaja case isn't as bad as I first thought. We'll have to see, though.

Good news, the cases are now available at Vaja's website for preorder! It looks like you can only get the case in black for now though, and they are shipping in three weeks. I had a 20gb iPod with the I-Vod case and loved it, but now I own a 15 gb version and I think I've found the perfect case. The case looks really good to me, but they show it in different colors that make it really look amazing. I'm not sure if I'll order it right away or wait until other colors are available, but I'm definitely going through Vaja.

I like how you can still charge the iPod without removing it from the case.
As soon as these muppets release some other colours I think I might have to order one.
I notice from the ipodlounge.com news page, that there is a $15 rebate offered. At first I thought it meant $15 off the purchase price of the current order, but in reality it can only be used if you order something else at a later date! Caveat Emptor!

*grumble*
Only black, thats a bit average!
I hope they come up with some other colours besides the ones displayed. The green is a real eye sore.

you people are insane, you are gonna spend $70+ for a flippin' case? Its ugly as hell, and it makes the iPod big and bulky. You want protection, get the flipstand from speck products, thats way more protective than that piece of leather. Shame on you fashion slaves!!!!!!

Yup - arrived yesterday - oh my God it's hardly been 24 hours and it already feels as if I've had it forever.

BTW Indiepod's a 3rd gen 15gig!

Will be treating her to proper sony headphones and a cool-looking case (to get back on topic otherwise we'll be in trouble :-) ) as soon as my credit card allows it - I've been looking at waterfield's sooper dooper case - it's one of the more expensive ones but one of the few without leather (as I've gathered)

# 20 Re: New Vaja Cases
The reason I like this case is because it's a nice blend of looks, feel, and protection. Since I've had my 15gb version, I've already dropped it once. Luckily, there was no damage. Having owned my 20gb version for 6 months with a Vaja case, I never dropped it. This is because the materials used are first rate; they are smooth but not slippery, and they just feel right in your hands. If I had a fully plastic case like the flipstand, I'm guessing I would drop it a couple of times too as it looks kind of slippery. As far as the Vaja case being big and bulky, to me the only dimension that matters is the thickness, as I usually keep my iPod in my pocket. With the vaja case, the thickness is 7/8"(.875), the iPod skin from speck is .9", and the flipstand is .95" thick. The case is expensive, there's no doubt about that. However, in this case you get what you pay for, though some people will never understand that. If you don't want to spend that much on a case then don't; there are other cases available. I'm probably going to order this case soon, but the Waterfield case is a possibility too. I have a laptop case from them and am very happy about it, so we shall see. Maybe I'll e-mail Vaja and ask them when colors will be available.

hmm I'm beginning to think this isn't such a good choice if I use the dock very often. :(

# 25 Re: New Vaja Cases
We've all splurged on the most expensive, most classy portable music player on the market.

Yet those of us who splurge on an equally classy case for said player are insane?

Hmm... that's rather like badgering the owner of a gorgeous sports car for splurging on "the works" car wash occasionally to protect it and show it off.

Might as well tell everyone to just use no case at all, since the iPod is so gorgeous we'd all have to be insane to cover it up at all, eh? Nevermind most of us would drop it about twice a day since it's so slick. ;)
