Anyone Using the i-Trac Gear Case?

I have been looking for a way to carry all the gizmos associated with the Ipod: firewire cable, cassette adapter, remote, earbuds, AC charger. Have any of you tried out the i-Trac? It is sold here:

I'd like to hear whether this is as attractive and practical as it looks. Thanks.

I don't have any direct experience with the case you cited but it seems like a lot of money for what you get.

May I suggest an alternative - check out pelican cases. Nearly indestructable and far less money, and you get more for your money IMO.

Just one site that carries pelican cases at good prices - google search for more if you think you can find better prices

You could also go to any arts&crafts store or packing supply store to find foam that you can custom cut yourself to fit any case you find for less money too.

Hope this helps.

I remember when they first came out a few months ago that they wanted 100.00 for those cases.

I received the iTrac gear case today. I agree with the earlier comment that it is quite pricey ($60). At the same time, however, I wanted a durable protective case that would carry the iPod and the essential accessories while traveling. I already paid $500 for the iPod itself, and the approximately 500 CDs of music (purchased over the past twenty years or so) that I'll be carrying on the iPod initially cost me well over $6,000. Thus, the cost of the iTrac itself is relative.

I have to say that my initial impressions are extremely favorable. The folks at Pyrim were careful to check with me on the precise iPod model that I'll be carrying in the case (the new 30GB model). I can now see why: the foam cutout inside the iTrac fits my iPod precisely. The foam is rather rigid (protecting the iPod quite nicely), and the iPod fits so snugly into the indentation that I can hold the case upside down and the iPod won't fall out. Very nice!

The other pockets are also well-designed to hold specific components. One unexpected bonus is that the Pyrim people included a cassette adapter, although I already have one and did not expect to receive it. The exterior leather is beautifully crafted and strikes me as very durable. The inner foam is also of excellent quality and is protected by an inner hard plastic liner that makes the case feel quite crush-resistant. I will feel very confident traveling with my iPod and accessories in this carrying case--whether it is thrown in a suitcase (even a soft-sided suitcase) or in a backpack.

All-in-all, I give the iTrac two thumbs up. Because new foam inserts can be purchased from the company to handle future versions of the iPod, I look forward to many years of service.

didn't you order the model that included a cassette adapter? Or did they include it in a different model?

I did order that model. But the page displaying the specifics about that model includes the following, in capital red letters:

ATTENTION! iPOD OR ACCESSORIES ARE NOT INCLUDED

That led me to believe that there would be no cassette adapter included.
