# 1 Re: The Wrap
I use one of the ones for the original iPod's and I really like it. It does a nice job at keeping it from getting scratched up and the only thing I have to open it for it to use the scrollwheel. That's not a big deal though since I generally just let it play randomly.

If I am not mistaken, you will not even have to take of the Wrap to do the scrollwheel since it is also touch sensitive. I just confirmed that by placing a piece of Saran wrap over the wheel and it still scrolled.

# 5 Re: The Wrap
I just ordered one on Sunday. Anyone know how long their shipping takes?
# 6 Re: The Wrap
my 20GB I just got from MacMall came with something like that. I think my 10GB did, too... I'm leaving it on until my iSkin comes. :)
# 7 Re: The Wrap
Hi All,
I ordered one yesterday , I was told that it would take ~ 6days to get to Australia. Will post when it does arrive.
cheers
# 8 Re: The Wrap
i ordered mine exactly one week ago today and i just got an e-mail saying that it has shipped.
on a side note, i originally had the 15GB, but recently had to upgrade because i filled it up too quickly. Lucky thing too, because the 15 was my first iPod and I didn't realize how quickly and easily it got scratched up. Since I got my 30, I've had a double layer of saran wrap over it. Can't wait until this freaking wrap comes.
# 9 Re: The Wrap
One more question: I'm thinking of getting the DLO jam jacket. Does anyone know if the 30GB iPod will fit into it with the Wrap on as well?
# 10 Re: The Wrap
Six days to get to Australia? So it probably only takes about half that to get to Canada, right?

It has been 7 days and am still waiting for my iPod Armour which was supposed to be 4-5 days (UPS courier), to arrive. Since the delivery option was quicker for the Armour, I dont expect JR Hill's wrap to arrive on time.
However I am sure deliveries to Canada would be much quicker. 3 days sounds like a good estimate.
Down here we call Saran wrap either 'cling wrap' or 'Glad wrap'. :)
# 12 Re: The Wrap
Received my wrap today. About what I expected - a nice peice of just thick enough vinyl. Wraps and it up nicely and, with a little additional pressure on the thumb wheel and buttons, seems to work fine. Does not fit great around the rounded edges, however. But, not sure how it could, based upon how it works - a simple fold around the ipod.
I received my MarWare SportSuit convertable case yesterday - VERY nice, and probably will provide all the protection I need. I doubt I'll use The Wrap that much, if at all.

Want to send it to me then? :D
# 14 Re: The Wrap
Hmm, well I haven't got my wrap yet. And it's been over three days.
Btw, we get Glad wrap here too. I guess Saran just came on the scene first, like Kleenex.

CanWinPod:
How much was it including shipping to Canada? I want to order one, but not sure of the exact cost including shipping. I couldn't calculate shipping, because it asked for a zip code. I'm in Toronto.
Thanks.

Just one question. Can I still put the ipod in any cases after I use the wrap? I think the wrap is just a thin layer of plastic?
I like to order the Maclear (Zip), still thinking do I need to wrap it before I put my ipod in for a double protection.:)
# 17 Re: The Wrap
The whole thing: the Wrap and shipping cost me 20 bucks Canadian. Not too bad, really, excpet that the shipping cost almost as much as the wrap itself. Shipping = 7.00 US, btw.
# 18 Re: The Wrap
I just ordered mine as well. I was using Saran wrap for a little bit, then I got my Marware Sportsuit convertible case, but I noticed some small scratches on my Ipod when I took it out to recharge/upload songs to it. I put it back in the case, and haven't taken it out since (hopefully the heat isn't a problem when syncing). But I fell in love with the "Wrap" when I saw it :) Just wished I saw it the moment after I got my Ipod.
oh well...

Did you know that you can buy static wrap at almost any hardware store for a WHOLE lot cheaper than 8 bucks? I just baught a pack of 4 (8x12) sheets from my ACE hardware store for $2.99. What is even better is I can cut the design anyway I want. Just thought I would advise you to call your hardware store before purchashing from site. You might be surprised. :>
# 20 Re: The Wrap
What exactly is Static Wrap?
I've never used it before.
Would Lowe's or Home Depot have it? Or even Wal-Mart?
Thanks.
# 21 Re: The Wrap
Yep, you can make this case in about 15min if you follow these simple instructions which i found in the news section of ipodlounge...
I made one with transparent blue vinyl type material (like watertoys are often made out of)..
It's really easy to do this way!

Any hardware store or home improvement store should carry the wrap. Call Lowes and ask for "static wrap" or "cling wrap".
# 23 Re: The Wrap
I just got my iPod Wrap last night... I ordered it July 7th and it took over 2 weeks. I'm in Canada... I was a little ####ed that it took so long, but whatever.
Initial impressions are that it does what it's supposed to - protect your iPod. The plastic sheet is thicker than saran wrap and it adheres to the iPod itself. I have a gen2 20GB iPod and it fit well - not perfect, but well. It covers the entire front of the iPod - screen, buttons, and touch-wheel - which is why I wanted this in the first place. It does not cover the top of the iPod leaving the firewire port, hold switch, and earphone jack exposed. This is great because I *never* have to take my iPod out of the protective covering... I hope. I'm hoping I never get any scratches on my iPod now either *sigh of relief*... hehe. The plastic is a bit firm and it takes a little bit of trying to get it to conform to the iPod's shape.
I also have the Mareware Sportsuit Convertible case, and as soon as I get home, I am going to try slip the "wrapped-up" iPod in it... double protection!
