They'd be stupid to make it anything but free. It's their foot in the door for the Windows music buying market.
# 3 Re: Will You Buy Windows Itunes?
Well Apple could also release it for free and just make the money from downloading the songs. I dunno how iTunes exactly works since I am a windows user and actually never looked into/read up about iTunes.

What?? You have to pay money for it? You gotta be kidding, right?
# 5 Re: Will You Buy Windows Itunes?
Well, Now that I think about it, It could be freeware...But since its going to be on Windows, they're going to have to put some ort of catch on it...
# 6 Re: Will You Buy Windows Itunes?
I checked itunes on mac a couple of minutes.
It didnt impress me much. I think people say it rocks is because its on mac and not on windows.
or maybe because mac has so little software to choose from that they think it is good.
To be honest, I was looking forward to iTUNES. Now, Ill probably stick to ephpod.

Yeah, Itunes I dont think is that great, but is just easy to use, and no friggin colors to blind you when you click on anything...The only reason Im getting it is to convert my MP3's to ACC!
# 8 Re: Will You Buy Windows Itunes?
I hope it's free. At least make it free the initial version just to get the market share. Once they have the market, then bleed the customers pocketbook dry.

Typical Microsoft evangalist reply. Your type never cease to amaze me with your blinding and completely unsubstantiated criticism of a product you don't, and never even consider, to understand.
Go back to driving your IROC and continue telling all your friends that you drove a Porche once and didn't think it was all that good. Whatever.
Oh, and iTunes has always been a free download on the Mac platform so I would assume that the PC versions will continue that tradition.

Hope it;s free.
Either way im gonna get it.
Can't wait!
# 12 Re: Will You Buy Windows Itunes?
Wow, lighten up guys. There's room for PC and Mac users.
I also expect iTMS/Win to be "free." All the existing users have some sort of mp3 app for their PC's now, the only reason for them to switch to iTunes is to buy music isn't it? Would seem foolish for Apple to charge for the utility when they make money on selling tunes. But I guess we'll all find out in time...
# 13 Re: Will You Buy Windows Itunes?
I would consider it, but only if they offered WAVs
# 14 Re: Will You Buy Windows Itunes?
Cause you know THAT's gonna happen.
# 15 Re: Will You Buy Windows Itunes?
i seriously doubt iTunes would be sold on the PC, apple would lose a big market

Heheh wavs. I doubt it. Thats gonna kill their bandwidth. You gotta keep in mind costs! Apple will never do such a thing!
Also, this is what i think is gonna happen:
There will be 2 versions of the iTunes for windows. One, just for downloading your music off iTMS, burning, etc. Basically, a 'lite' version thats free for everyone.
And the other, will not be free for everyone, however, it should be free for ppl with iPods! And that version better kick ### and have smart playlists, and sync features etc.. Basically everything thats on the mac version of iTunes!
Again, thats just a thought. It sounds logical. What do you ppl think?

I imagine like Quicktime , there will be one version for free which will enable users to buy tracks from Apple and one version that you pay for which will allow you to burn etc....Just my guess.
I've never used I Tunes and am looking forward to giving it a go as none of the solutions out there is quite right for me at the moment. I won't pay for it though.

loGan, try J. River Media Center for the moment.

# 19 Re: Will You Buy Windows Itunes?
i have both itunes for mac and wmp on a pc here at home, and itunes wins hands down for me..it just more easy to use, and has more response than wmp9

# 20 Re: Will You Buy Windows Itunes?
I assume that you have to pay for Media Centre? I find it hard to pay for software when there is a freeware alternative, however cr@ppy that alternative may be.
My brother just picked up a g4 laptop so I'll check out ITunes on that. It might even inspire me to get an Apple again. Its been a long seperation but I do quite fancy a 17" Powerbook. #### they look good.

That doesn't make sense...since iTunes will be the only program capable of burning iTfWMS tracks to CD, it would not make financial sense for them to charge extra just to be able to burn, since it would simply drive consumers to other services who offer a free client for burning.

Apple won't charge for iTunes; I'm pretty sure of it. Apple is trying to entice people with Apple products, and they won't do that by charging for iTunes.
