iPod loses charge too quickly

Apple's support website says that "After about 14 to 28 days of not being used, the battery needs to be charged." I have lost virtually all of the charge after my iPod has sat for only three days! The iPod was completely charged, it was shut off, and the hold lock was on to prevent accidental turn-ons. Any ideas?

Yeah I have the same sort of issue, but Apple Care are not interested as I did their test and they said that if it did 10hrs they wouldn't change the battery. They said if I lied I would have to pay.

How much would you have had to pay to get your battery replaced? How did you contact Apple Care to get any sort of reply?
