Is 40 GB same size/weight as 30GB??

I can't seem to find a definitive answer on this. I think Apple's press release said something like "as small and lightweight as ever" whatever that means... I'm thinking the new 20GB is the same size/weight as the 15GB, and the new 40GB is the same size/weight as the 30GB...

Can anyone confirm this?

(Trying to decide whether to take up the issue with J&R to get my 30GB (which I got Friday) replaced with a new 40GB...)

I just exchanged my 30 for a 40 and they are the same physical size, and if there is any difference in weight, I cannot tell the difference. The 10/15/20 are all the same size also. Dunno about weight.

thanks slystad...

just curious, where did you buy your 30 from and what was the process of exchanging it like?

Why didn't you just look on the www.apple.com/ipod 's specs site? While the 10 gig still remains the same as before and the 15 was like the 10 gig you can just look if the 20 gig is also like the 10, hmm? =)

because I'm lazy, Jojo. I wanted someone else to do the legwork for me while I just leaned back in my overstuffed chair, sippin on gin and juice, clicking the refresh button every few minutes

Yeah, how did you "exchange" it?

doubt there are any bug fixes....they probably just swapped the 15/30gb for the 20/40gb on their assembly line.

There is nothing different about the 10/15/30 and the 10/20/40, just HDD sizes.

I'm still only getting 3-4 hours on a full battery charge w/ my 3G 30GB...does the 40GB have any "improved" battery technology?

No, nothing is improved or changed on the 10/20/40 GB models, only HDD sizes.

Battery life will take a tiny tiny hit because it will take more juice scanning for data on the more densely packed disc. Apple once admitted an 'imperceptible (8-12 minute) difference' in battery life between the 5 and 10 GB iPods, and anecdotally, I think that my 10 GB pod's battery lasts less well than my wife's 5 GB....
