European iPod comes w. 39Mb firmware partition?

I got my iPod from our Russian Apple distributor, and it has 39Mb firmware partition, not 32Mb.
Does it mean that my iPod probably has no "european volume limiting"?
(I can't distinguish that volume levels :-))

SKin, yes it does. The way the EU volume limit works is it writes a 39 mb file to the ipod firmware partition. On a EU ipod, the partition is only 32 mb, so the last bit, which we assume allows the sound to go higher, gets truncated off. So it appears that you do not have a volume limit at all. Congrats.

I know you did not come up with this personally....so this is not against you!

Anyway, that whole firmware size thing, 32MB vs. 39MB, grabbing the US firmware and storing it on a EU ipod.....is the biggest BULL#### ever.

The Moron who started this had absolutely NO idea whether or not it would work. I've spent quite some time trying to make this work (and so have others) but it's just that...complete BS!

The only way to fix the volume on the EU ipod is Xplay and EUpod...

Cheers,
